Violet never wanted to move to Perfect。

Who wants to live in a town where everyone has to wear glasses to stop them going blind? And who wants to be neat and tidy and perfectly behaved all the time?

But Violet quickly discovers there's something weird going on – she keeps hearing noises in the night, her mum is acting strange and her dad has disappeared。

When she meets Boy she realizes that her dad is not the only person to have been stolen away。。。and that the mysterious Watchers are guarding a perfectly creepy secret!

3。8★ 1st things 1st, I really like this cover, is so much fun and colourful。 Ok, next on topic although I am certainly not the target for this book I found myself enjoying the world and the characters。 It was very cute。

His twin is called Tom! 。。。more

DNFOther than the boring execution of a great concept, the sexist undertones, and the lack of proper punctuation, this book is great! It started strong but lost its charm after the fifth chapter。

Another middle-grade book under my wing! This is one that took me quite a while to read but I have no idea why because I loved it!! The story is wonderful and the characters too。 I loved the mystery element and piecing together the different clues to figure out what was going on in this crazy ride of a book。 I loved the setting of Perfect, No Man’s Land and all the other elements。 It felt so magical even though it was mostly science without any magic at all。 I’m definitely intrigued by the other Another middle-grade book under my wing! Brilliant little middle grade that had really likeable characters and a fantastic plot。 The Town and it's residents reminded me of the Original Stepford wives but for kids。 Brilliant little middle grade that had really likeable characters and a fantastic plot。 The Town and it's residents reminded me of the Original Stepford wives but for kids。 。。。more

(3,5 stars) (ill proof read this l8r, currently it's probably a very poorly written review lol)The vibes were AMAZING, I absolutely adored the scenary and everything。 Also the story and characters - super unique, I haven't really read something like it!! Now why 3,5 and not 5 stars? Well because maybe around the middle part and onwards things started to slow down a lot。 I found myself getting bored。。 What really kept me going in the beginning is wanting to see more places and characters and want (3,5 stars) (ill proof read this l8r, currently it's probably a very poorly written review lol)The vibes were AMAZING, I absolutely adored the scenary and everything。 Also the story and characters - super unique, I haven't really read something like it!! Idk what they're called in English, I bought the translated version, sorry!!!;w;) and I think we knew all characters as well except for some of the orphans who weren't really that developed so I don't count them in lol。 I also figured out who Boy's parents are pretty fast and found the plot in general a bit predictable。 At times the book was also a bit too cartoonish for my taste but I think that's simply because I'm not the targeted audience lol。 Also I wish there were more interactions and getting to know the characters a bit better because the book was focusing a lot more on the plan I think。 A thing I actually REALLY REALLY liked is how scary the twins are when they were talking to violet。 I was genuinely spooked at times because of how they talked, I think that was done great。 And lastly, I did say the book after the middle was very slow, but somehow it was also very fast--?? I can't really explain it lol。 To wrap it up, although I think the first half of the book is better than the 2nd, I definitely think its still worth reading:)👌 。。。more

Such fun! Kids would love this book。 About a land called Perfect where people are blind, and have to wear glasses that makes everything look perfect, and become perfect citizens of Perfect。A children's version of the idea explored in the Malayalam movie Guru。 Don't think the novel was inspired by the movie。3。5 stars Such fun! This book was fabulous。 I read it during The Irish Readathorn (a readathorn I would highly recommend) A Town Called Perfect was an absolute joy to read。 Violet and her family relocate to A Town called Perfect。 Everyone is very Happy。 Everyone is very Helpful。 Everyone is just Perfect in a Town called Perfect。 Violet is not。

A place called perfect never is anything but perfect。Violet can tell just that the minute she arrives in Perfect with her family。 Everyone in the town is boring and too bright, they all drink the town famous tea, and everyone who lives here starts going blind, so they wear special glasses。 When her father disappears and a boy named Boy shows up telling her all the perfect secrets, Violet knows it's up to them to save the townsfolk。This was such a pleasant read! This story's uniqueness and spin really drew me in, with the conspiracy and showing that imperfections and uniqueness are valuable。I also drew a strong comparison to history in this book; concentration camps & the Berlin Wall, and I know that could seem like a stretch, but those in no-mans-land fought back against oppressors and were cast aside because they didn't fit a certain image。This might be a good stepping stone for kids as they start to read about the more mature and important topic as it won't seem that big of a leap。 。。。more

Five things about A Place Called Perfect by Helena Dugan。 3/5⭐️s1。 This is basically a reworking of The Stepford Wives for middle schoolers with a gorgeous book cover。 2。 This book thinks it’s clever。。。 from Perfect to No Man’s Land to Rose Colored Glasses。。。it definitely thinks it’s clever but it read to me as unimaginative and a little immature。 3。 When I was ten, I probably would have loved this book but I’ve read a lot since then and this book (unlike so many middle grade books) just doesn’t Five things about A Place Called Perfect by Helena Dugan。 3/5⭐️s1。 This is basically a reworking of The Stepford Wives for middle schoolers with a gorgeous book cover。 2。 This book thinks it’s clever。。。 from Perfect to No Man’s Land to Rose Colored Glasses。。。it definitely thinks it’s clever but it read to me as unimaginative and a little immature。 3。 When I was ten, I probably would have loved this book but I’ve read a lot since then and this book (unlike so many middle grade books) just doesn’t measure up to other attempts I’ve encountered to tell this exact same story。 4。 There’s nothing terrible wrong with this book。 Likewise there’s nothing tremendously right。 5。 I recommend this for 10-12year olds interested in dystopian societies and dry humor。 。。。more

Very funny and mysterious at the same time。 If you like Roald Dahl and Neil Gaiman you will certainly like this book。 With a very cunning twist and very fascinating plot, the story is set in a town called Perfect where everything seems absolutely perfect but there is more behind it。 I am not a huge fan of fantasy but this book did catch my attention。 I enjoyed this book a lot and highly recommend reading it。 If you are searching for a fantasy- mystery, this book is for you!

A Place Called Perfect is a creepy, intriguing tale of self-belief and determination。 Violet is determined to find out what’s going on in her new town and bring her family back together。 Her new friend helps her to see that Perfect is not so Perfect。Helena Duggan has created characters who are easy to identify with and a world that is full of danger and a little bit of magic。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book was a bit of an easy mystery in my opinion, when it comes to characters。 I knew immediately that George and Edward were the ringleaders of the while shenanigan, and how Macula was Boy’s mother after I saw that note。 Otherwise I loved the book, it was very interesting and I love the family love in the story。

I guess it's my own fault for continuing reading, it was so short and had no punctuation so it took a very short time。 Every character and the narrating voice were so incredibly stupid and annoying。 The plot made no sense and the author probably thinks it's part of childhood to constantly make sexist remarks with friends of the opposite sex。 I don't know why I didn't just put it down immediately, it was like watching a random video without knowing why you aren't switching it off。 I will try to r I guess it's my own fault for continuing reading, it was so short and had no punctuation so it took a very short time。 Every character and the narrating voice were so incredibly stupid and annoying。 The plot made no sense and the author probably thinks it's part of childhood to constantly make sexist remarks with friends of the opposite sex。 I don't know why I didn't just put it down immediately, it was like watching a random video without knowing why you aren't switching it off。 I will try to remember that I don't have to finish books from now on 。。。more

I can see why people have raved about it, its a great story about how a town feeds people special tea and makes them wear rose tinted glasses in order to keep everything perfect。Its a great way to teach children the importance of individuality。 Some of the descriptions of eyes were a little gory for a younger reader but maybe that's just me being squeamish, the kids would probably love it。 I can see why people have raved about it, its a great story about how a town feeds people special tea and makes them wear rose tinted glasses in order to keep everything perfect。Its a great way to teach children the importance of individuality。 Some of the descriptions of eyes were a little gory for a younger reader but maybe that's just me being squeamish, the kids would probably love it。 。。。more
